Background & Experience
Heather Pineda is a dedicated counsellor with over a decade of experience supporting young adults and their families through an integrative therapeutic approach. She is a certified counsellor in the United States and holds a Master of Arts in Counselling from Prairie View Texas A&M University, along with a postgraduate certificate in Educational Psychology from the University of Dundee, Scotland. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Psychology, specialising in Educational Psychology, at the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana.
Heather’s work has centred on helping clients overcome complex post-traumatic stress disorder, mood disorders, and self-destructive behaviours such as substance abuse and non-suicidal self-injury. Drawing on her extensive background in educational psychology, she assists adolescents, teens, and families in creating strength-based action plans that foster emotional resilience and practical problem-solving. She currently works in school settings in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, supporting students with special educational needs, alongside providing online therapy to clients internationally.
Approach
Heather combines evidence-based therapeutic interventions with a collaborative, goal-oriented style. She integrates Positive Psychology and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to support children, adolescents, adults, and families in addressing emotional and behavioural difficulties, particularly in cases of ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Her approach is client-centred, culturally sensitive, and tailored to each individual’s needs, with a focus on building strengths, enhancing self-awareness, and empowering clients to achieve sustainable change.
